Many of you whether beginner or accomplished player may find it difficult to compose your own songs. Where do I begin? How do I get started? Where do I find the inspiration to get started?

In this class we will examine the elements of a few great compositions. What makes them tick. Why did the composers choose the chords they did etc. We will then deconstruct the composition, Examine the possibilities and then reconstruct it into something completely new and unique! While we are at it we can reimagine a new style for the song, Change the melody into something completely different.

You’re two thirds of the way there. Now go write a great lyric to your new song. Bring your instrument and an open mind. If you are a singer, play another instrument or perhaps don’t play guitar you are still welcome to participate by exploring and help with creating new melodies/lyrics etc.
