This year, The Thompson family is very excited to announce the expansion of our very successful scholarship program.
We began taking scholarship applications in 2013 in honour of a wonderful young, promising student, Zoe Klimley. In the subsequent decade we’ve seen an incredible group of 18-25 year olds be granted places at Frets and Refrains with the help of donations from fellow attendees and benefactors.
Starting this year we will be accepting applications for all ages for the Thompson Family Scholarship Program but will maintain a renewed Zoe Klimley scholarship for under 18’s.
We hope this way we can nurture the earliest talents in honour of Zoe while also branching out to help those who aren’t as financially able with the help of you, our alumni, and Music Masters Collective’s non-profit program.
We can’t wait to see what the future of Frets and Refrains holds with these changes.
Zoe KLimley Scholarship Details
Zoe Klimley was a lovely, vibrant, seventeen-year-old who attended Frets & Refrains in 2013, making an impression on everyone through her vivacity, enthusiasm, bravery, and warmth. When she died suddenly in 2014, we who knew her decided to honor her brief but beautiful life with the establishment of a scholarship fund in her honor.
Through this program, we are able to offer a small number of scholarships for talented young people. Each scholarship will be awarded to a person under 18, and will include a chaperone ticket. Each scholarship is individually allocated in the form of registration discounts for Frets & Refrains.
We are actively seeking enthusiastic, young people with a passion for music and a desire to attend Frets and Refrains; but lacking the finances to do so.
