MARISSA NADLER’S CLASSES

In my classes, we will explore several facets of the world of songwriting, including lyric writing, melody construction, song structure, guitar playing, and vocal performance.  We will do this all with an organic and intuitive approach that will remain fun and exploratory. 

We’ll delve into storytelling and narrative songwriting traditions, with the use of writing exercises to master rhyme, meter, and the rhythm and sounds of words themselves. We will write from the perspective of both ourselves and other people in order to develop the imaginative world within the songs.  Additionally, we’ll  explore the world of confessional songwriting in terms of putting those hard to define emotions into something tangible, visceral, and - of course, musical.
